ABOUT THE BEAST MIXTAPE: New
Method Productions artist Switch-Blade is unleashed. In January of '08 he released his first mixtape "The Beast".
If you ask him about the title he'll tell you, "The Beast is what it is. On each track I'm a beast." "As an
artist and from the animal that's in me, I dominate beats and crush beats lyrically."
It is his first release
and has been a long time coming. Ask him about slow and steady and he’ll tell you. “My first release has been
a long awaited mixtape finally after 10 years of trying to get focused and get planted to where I can sit down with a real
label and actually put together the mixtape that really means something to me…straight energy from an artist, not just
a rapper.”
He says the mixtape is well rounded, some songs have meaning, some are for entertainment. But
all of his lyrics are true, or “TRU” as he’d spell it out to you. He says his first track, New Method Cannon
is one of his favorites because, as Blade puts it, he’s “been through it, lived it, done it” and he’s
quick to let you know. “I’m not no fairy tale rapper, just like New Method Cannon states.”
Time,
life, and the struggle have inspired this mixtape but in the end it’s all quite simple. “What inspired me to write
‘The Beast’ mixtape is the love of music. Period.”
